Welcome to the Alleghany County Register of Deeds web site. The office provides services to the professional community, as well as the general public. Some of these services include recording real property documents and plats, maintenance of vital records, including birth, death, and marriage records, issuing marriage licenses, and administering notary public oaths.

We are happy to assist genealogists in their search for family records.

The office is located in the Alleghany County Administration Building and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to serve you.

Alleghany County was formed in 1859 from Ashe County. Land records, as well as marriage records, prior to 1859 may be found in the Ashe County Register of Deeds office. To contact the Ashe County Register of Deeds office, please call 336-846-5580.
