Recycle!

Paper, paper containers, and any type of plastic bottle or container and caps that displays the recycling symbol can be placed in our co-mingle compactor. Please rinse all containers prior to bringing to the recycling center drop off.

Aluminum cans, containers, and lids are gathered in bins. Aluminum can produce a small revenue stream for the Transfer Facility. Please rinse all cans and containers prior to placing them in the appropriate bin.

Steel cans, containers, and lids are gathered in bins. Steel can also produce a small revenue stream for the Transfer Facility. Please rinse all cans and containers prior to placing them in the appropriate bin.

Commercial cardboard is collected separately and bundled for reuse.

Glass is collected separately to be crushed to remove from our garbage waste stream and “lighten the loads” being transported from Alleghany County. We are currently working on options for reuse. Please rinse all containers before placing them in the appropriate bins.

Five tires per vehicle can be disposed at the Transfer Station for free.

Electronics are collected separately for recycling and reuse purposes.
All recycling efforts contributes to the overall operations of the Alleghany County Transfer Station and makes our beautiful mountain county a greener place to live. Thank you and Happy Recycling!
