Currently, Alleghany County has a 6% occupancy tax that is to be charged for all hotels, rentals, and inns that rent rooms. All of the monies are passed to the Alleghany County Tourism Development Authority.
Occupancy tax forms can be obtained through the Finance Office or are available here Commercial Solid Waste

Completed forms are to be returned by the 15th of the month for the preceding month along with the occupancy monies collected. We request that forms be completed for every calendar month regardless of the monies collected. The forms and payments may be paid by mail to Post Office Box 366, Sparta, NC 28675, or in person at the Finance Office located in the lower level of the County Administration Building.
