The purpose of Alleghany County Human Resources is to support the County in creating and maintaining a positive work environment that allows employees to effectively deliver services to citizens, and encourages staff retention with benefits and compensation management. HR also provides a level of risk management for our employees as well as Alleghany County Government.

Alleghany County Personnel Policy

Responsibilities of the Human Resources Officer:

  • Payroll for 135+ full-time employees and up to 80 part-time employees
  • Benefits management and assistance for employees
  • Involvement in recruitment, hiring and disciplinary actions for county employees
  • Management of personnel records, pay plans, and job descriptions
  • Administration and maintenance of Employee Substance Abuse Policy
  • Handling of Workers Compensation Claims
  • New Hire Training
