Authentically Alleghany County Themed Business Card Places Second in State Contest

May 15, 2019

Sparta, NC – Alleghany County today announced that County Manager Mike James’ business card with the Authentically Alleghany logo and artwork placed second in a statewide contest.

BusinessNC, whose slogan is “For over 35 years, North Carolina’s biggest and best business magazine” held the contest during the month of April. The winner was Dianna G Corbett of Corbett Companies, based in Wilmington. Her card was made of the same wood veneer material the company manufactures. James came in second place actually entering two different cards. From the winning announcement: “The runner-up is Alleghany County Manager Michael James. He actually sent two cards: One was a regular business card with nice folksy artwork depicting the county’s “Authentically Alleghany” slogan. The second was a seasonal card emphasizing Alleghany’s role as a top Christmas tree-producing county in the state … Nice stuff.”

The business card was designed by Kate Irwin of Sparta’s Kate, Ink and incorporated the artwork from the Authentically Alleghany marketing and branding campaign.

“The Authentically Alleghany artwork and slogan are creative and beautiful and they are the reason for the success in this contest,” stated James. I thank the many citizens who participated in the branding process a couple of years ago, Dale Caveny and Sarah Dalton for managing Authentically Alleghany and big thanks to Kate Irwin of Kate, Ink for designing the card. Our locally collected sales tax is growing at nearly double the state average and Authentically Alleghany is a big part of that process. This is one tool we use to market our county to tourists and potential residents.”
