The Alleghany County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing to name a private road in the Whitehead Township and a private road in the Piney Creek Township. Road name petitions have been submitted to name said roads Farmview Drive and Walnut Lane. The Public Hearing will be held in the Commissioners Meeting Room on the lower level of the Administration Building located at 348 South Main Street, Sparta, North Carolina, on November 6, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of the hearing is to provide notice pursuant to NCGS 153A-239.1 of naming a road. The Alleghany County Board of Commissioners will hold a special called meeting on Thursday November 9th, at 3:30 pm in the Commissioners Board Room at 348 S Main Sparta, NC. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the proposed courthouse expansion with the county commissioners, judges, clerk of court and sheriff. The public is invited to attend.

Notice is hereby given that the proposed FY 2017-2018 budget has been submitted to the Alleghany County Board of Commissioners, pursuant to NCGS 159-12. The Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing regarding the proposed FY 2016-2017 budget on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at 6:30 pm in the Board Meeting Room of the Alleghany County Administration Building, 348 South Main Street, Sparta, North Carolina. The proposed budget is available for inspection in the County Manager’s Office at the County Administration Building.
On June 5, 2017 at 6:30 pm, the Alleghany County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing seeking input into the possible closing of the intersection of Highway 18 and Osborne Road and the possible addition of Health Services Road into the NC DOT system. The proposed changes are intended to ease traffic flow into and out of the Alleghany County Transfer Station. Any public comment is encouraged.
