Sparta, NC – Alleghany County today announced that it will hold an orientation for any interested county commission candidate. The meeting will be held on Friday, March 9th at 9:30 am. The Board of Elections monthly meeting is earlier that morning at 8:30.
“Serving as a County Commissioner is a big responsibility. This candidate orientation will hopefully inform the interested candidates in the role and responsibilities of a Commissioner and the time commitment required. We want to help all candidates be better informed so those who are elected can hit the ground running in December,” stated Michael James, County Manager.
The event is also open to the public. “Any citizen is welcome to attend if they are interested in learning more about county government and the role of the County Commissioner,” added James. The meeting will be held in the County Commission meeting room. The meeting will be filmed and archived for the local government television channel.
