Sparta, NC – Alleghany County today announced that it has begun live streaming all county commission meetings beginning with today’s session. To view the live stream, simply load the county website (www.alleghanycounty-nc.gov/) and click on the icon “Stream Commissioner Meetings.”
“We are excited to serve our citizens better by live streaming county commission meetings,” stated Michael James, County Manager. “We all have jobs and family commitments and not everyone can attend the meetings in person. This gives our citizens another option to be informed. So cozy up on the couch in your fuzzy slippers and watch your local government in action.”
For the time being, the live stream will be internet only. But the county hopes to begin live broadcasts on the local government channels through Alleghany Community Television in the near future. “One of the most important roles of local government is keeping our citizens informed of what we are doing,” added Mark Evans, County Commission Chair.
The recorded meetings will still be available to watch through all the normal channels including the county website, YouTube and the local government channels through Alleghany Community TV
The County Commissioners meet regularly on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 pm and the third Monday at 10:00 am.
