Sparta, NC – The Alleghany County Commissioners today enacted a resolution to honor Kenny and Cheryl Harris of Sparta for dedicated community service, including over 20 years serving as foster parents.
“On behalf of the Board of Commissioners, I would like to thank the Harrises for everything they do and have done for the young people of Alleghany County,” stated Mark Evans, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners. “They have continually placed the wellbeing of children above their own. They are truly remarkable folks.”
Lisa Osborne, Social Services Director added, “I have worked with Kenny and Cheryl Harris here for many years. They have provided a safe supportive home to so many foster children over the years. I don’t know what we would do without them.”
Alleghany County will soon begin a campaign to recruit new foster families. If you are interested in becoming a foster parent, please contact Tiffany Perry or Charity Ballou at the Department of Social Services at 336-372-2411.
